The Gypsum Trumpeter is an indie visual novel based on the novel of the same name by Russian writer Yuri Polyakov. To the best of our knowledge, the original novel has never been published in English.
The project's creator attempts to rethink the stereotypical notion of visual novels as entertaining anime stories for a young audience and present adult narrative prose in an interactive form that combines literary narrative, illustrations, music, and reader choices in individual episodes.
The visual novel is aimed at those who enjoy thoughtful reading and would like to try a new format for getting to know a literary work.
This visual literary adaptation is free and available for Android, Windows, Linux, and MacOS in Russian, English, and Chinese. The project is created in free time as a creative hobby.
The English-language version 0.0.8 covers the main storyline through approximately the midpoint of Part One.
